The oldest depictions of these horses can be seen in the drawings of the Apadana Stairs in Persepolis and Darius’s triple-stamped seal. The remains of the skeletons found around Hamedan are the same as the Caspian pony. The kings of ancient Iran, such as Cyrus and Darius the Achaemenid, used the courage and strength of this race to tie them to chariots and hunt lions.
